5 Common Makeup Mistakes That Totally Ruin Your Dignity

Mismatched Foundation

There is nothing worse than wearing foundation that is two shades too dark or too light for your skin tone. Remember foundation sets the stage for the rest of your makeup, so if you mess this part up, it will only get worse as you add more makeup to your face.  If you don’t know your correct shade of foundation, visit a makeup store and have them match you with the perfect color.

Overdone Eyebrows

Your eyebrows can completely transform your face –for the better or for the worse. A few years ago thin eyebrows were all the range (eek) and one common problem was over plucking. Today however thick eyebrows are back in style but we still can’t seem to get it right. The big problem this time around is making them too thick. To achieve beautifully, arched brows use either a brow powder or pomade and then use a brown eyeliner pencil to perfect it. Do not use black eyeliner unless you have really, really dark brows, it tends to look unnatural on most people.

Too Much Makeup

There’s nothing really wrong with wearing a lot of makeup –especially if you’re trying to hide dark spots or scars that you’re insecure about. The key though is to not make it seem as if you’re wearing too much makeup. Make sure you blend, blend blend, and this goes for eye shadow, foundation and bronzer. For easy and flawless application male sure you have the rights tools, a flattop or stipple brush, or beauty blender sponges are great tools for applying foundation.

Bad Contouring

Contouring is one of the newest and coolest trends in the makeup world right now, but it isn’t easily achieved; it does take some skill. The point of contouring is to play up certain features and downplay others, but if it’s not done correctly the results can be quite horrendous. While there are many YouTube videos that can show you how to do this properly, just know that it does take time and practice, and if you’re not going to do it right, don’t do it at all.

Dry Lips

This happens to the best of us, especially when it gets really hot or really cold, but that’s not excuse. The key to avoiding this makeup ‘no-no’ is hydration. Yes, you must drink plenty of water to nourish your body from the inside. Then, you’ll need a lip balm, or a moisturizing lipstick to avoid flakiness. Matte lipsticks are very popular right now but these can be drying on the lips; the trick is to coat your lips with coconut oil before applying.
